• Elbert County Sheriff’s Office was recognized in Anderson S.C. on Wednesday, June 29th, 2011, for their efforts and assistance in the double homicide investigation which occurred in the early part of the year. Sheriff Haston was presented with the award during a luncheon that was held in Anderson by the Anderson Area Crime Stoppers. Sheriff John Skipper presented the award to Sheriff Haston for the invaluable support and assistance provided by Elbert County investigators and deputies. Sheriff Haston also wanted to thank Sheriff Skipper for the award and their support that his investigators provided to his office. Crime is not bound by jurisdictional boundaries, so working relationships with other counties and states is imperative, Haston stated.

The IACP National Law Enforcement Challenge presented the Elbert County Sheriff's Office with an Award for winning 1st place in Nationals for the year 2006.

The IACP National Law Enforcement Challenge presented the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office with the Child Passenger Safety Award in August 2006 for efforts to promote and enforce child passenger safety restraints in the community. This award is part of the Special Awards Category for the Challenge.

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office placed 2nd in the 2006 IACP Law Enforcement Challenge for Class 3 category for Sheriff’s Offices.  This is the international award for efforts targeting three major traffic safety priorities: occupant protection, impaired driving and speeding.

The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office was presented with a plaque for 1st place at the Governor’s luncheon in August 2006.  The Governor’s Challenge is a GOHS incentive program designed to award outstanding achievements in highway safety enforcement and education. Agencies are judged on the approach and effectiveness of their overall highway safety programs.

The National Sheriff’s Association and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration presented this DUI Enforcement Award at the Governor’s luncheon in August 2006 to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office in recognition of outstanding performance and dedicated services for efforts that create general deterrence by conducting high visibility impaired driving enforcement, both during brief periods of heightened enforcement and on a sustained basis throughout the year.

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) presented this "Community Awareness Award" to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office for our commitment to the prevention of drug and alcohol abuse through community information and awareness.

MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) presented this award to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office for 220 DUI arrests for the year 2004.  It is for our commitment and dedication for traffic safety on Georgia's roadways.

This award was presented by the Governor's Office of Highway Safety to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office for the efforts put forth in the area of Underage Alcohol Prevention in 2003.

This National award was presented to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office from IACP (International Association of Chiefs and Police) for 2nd place in the 2002 for overall highway safety enforcement efforts. 

dui arrests
This plaque was presented to the Elbert County Sheriff's Office from MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) for 272 DUI arrests in 2005.  It is the 2005 DUI Hero Award for the most DUI arrests in a county in the state of Georgia.
