The Elbert County Sheriff's Office consist of 4 shifts which handle calls for service from citizens of Elbert County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Deputies work 12 hour shifts where there are 4 deputies assigned to each shift. Before becoming a deputy you must complete a 10 week police academy course and upon graduation you will be assigned to field training supervisor where you work for 7 weeks before being
considered assignment to a shift. After 2 years of outstanding performance a deputies supervisor may submit forms and documentation to be promoted to deputy first class (DFC).
